ABOUT ABOUT

Co-curated by FAWN & David Jones

Convergence Theory is back with a three-part digital edition. Starting July 23, FAWN will release a different online set once a month until September, each by an artist from our final Convergence Theory concert that we originally announced...in the before times. We are very excited about all of these artists, both irl and online, so join us as we turn all of our living rooms into micro experimental music venues.

First up is Maxime Corbeil-Perron on July 23 with a stereoscopic set that will blow the minds of even the most jaded music goers. Maxime is a Montreal-based composer, director and audiovisual performance artist. His work has been presented in more than a hundred international events and festivals, including: Mutek (CA), LIntonal (SE), Festival du Nouveau Cinéma (CA), Seeing Sound (UK), Videoformes (FR), Matera Intermedia Festival (IT), San Francisco Tape Music Festival (USA), Sound Image (UK) and the Computer Arts Festival (IT). Maxime has received numerous awards for his compositions and has been commissioned by the Continuum Ensemble, the Ensemble Supermusique, the Ensemble d’Oscillateurs, and the Productions Totem Contemporain. His artistic practice has evolved in various forms: music, cinema, audiovisual performance, video art, interactive art, electroacoustic music, electronic and mixed-media music, light and sound performance.

EVENT DETAILS:

This will be a free online event but if you want to get the 3D EXPERIENCE, then for $5 you can order a pair of FAWN 3D glasses! We will mail these glasses directly to you so that you can drop even deeper into the music without having to leave your sofa. With your purchase, you will also be sent a password protected link giving you unlimited views of the set until the end of the release week. These glasses are going to come in handy for our August release too, so make sure you hold onto them.

You will be asked to send us your mailing address at the end of your purchase.

FAWN will be raising money for two charities during each of these concerts, including The AFC - the lifeline for Canada's entertainment industry and Friends of Ruby. See below to learn more about these two vital organizations.

Friends of Ruby (http://friendsofruby.ca/calendar.pdf)

Friends of Ruby was founded by Egale Canada in 2014 to meet the needs of LGBTQI2S youth. Their drop-in space, you’ll find meals, activities, support groups and community, including a Tuesday drop-in time reserved for BIPOC youth. They offer barrier-free one-on-one counselling, support with gender identity or transition, and help accessing housing, health care, and employment.

The AFC (https://afchelps.ca/covid-19-guide/)

The AFC is the lifeline for Canada’s entertainment industry. Through compassionate and confidential support, we help Canadian entertainment professionals maintain their health, dignity and ability to work. The AFC helps entertainment professionals when they are at their most vulnerable due to injury, illness or other personal hardship. Through their Emergency Financial Aid Program, they provide short-term emergency financial assistance for essential household bills and costs that cannot otherwise be paid.
